Adventures at the National Stationery Show

If I could describe heaven on earth for those in my profession, it would be the National Stationery Show in New York City. On May 21st & 22nd, I had the pleasure of being able to attend my very first one, and got to meet up with Minted artists and team members. Behold, the beauty below!

First stop was of course the Minted booth. I got to chat with a Minted wedding merchandiser who was familiar with my work, which is always flattering!

It was interesting to see what new products the big time retailers like Hallmark and Papyrus were putting out. Some of my favorites were the new materials that Hallmark was exploring in their new signature collection cards. These wood etched and sprinkle-covered cards were so fun! They're almost like an art piece that doubles as a card.

My favorite thing was seeing what came out of the small teams of artists, designers and stationers. Many of them had a funky, eclectic flair to their aesthetic that was uniquely their brand. From butt cheek-covered gift wrap to cheeky celebrity sayings, these small guys had a little bit of everything!

Booth decor from the small retailers might have given me a little home design inspo!

My absolute favorite booth had to be Pinky Weber  (these images are from their instagram @pinkyweber). They have such a unique signature look, and who can resist a magnet pack of Lindsay Lohan mugshots?! Plus that glittery flooring was to. die.

That evening, I headed over to a cocktail party that the Minted team hosted for all their artists who were in town. After hearing their CEO Mariam make several exciting announcements for the artist community (hello giant "Mintie meetup" in Vegas!), they brought out a cake for Minted's 10th anniversary that was lit by several artists who had been part of the Minted community since 2008.

After an exciting 24 hours in NYC, I took the train out of Penn Station the next day and headed home to DC. Until next year, NSS!
